COVID-19 - New Government Restrictions Update

The Government have issued new restrictions on groups of more than 6 meeting indoor or outdoors from Monday 14th September.

Sport England have now clarified that organised sports that have passed the Return to Play Protocol can continue as before and are not restricted to the limit of groups of 6.

Because the Club have put in place actions to ensure Finsbury Park and our other Training Groups are Covid-19 Secure we can continue to train as before under the supervision of the Club Coaches.

This news also means that the current Track & Field Open Meetings will continue in the autumn, Park Run remains on course to recommence in October as do the pilot Cross Country events.

Virtual Middlesex Junior Races and Relays  - apply now!

Middlesex AA decided not to hold their Annual Relay competition this year due to Covid-19. Instead they are holding a virtual competition which is an opportunity to compare yourselves to your peers at clubs across Middlesex. There will also be a team competition combining the aggregate time of the top 3 runners. U11’s and U13’s will race 1,500m with U15, U17 and U20’s 3,000m.

The Club will be holding timed races at Finsbury Park on Monday 7th September which we would like as many Juniors as possible to enter.

5km Heathside Handicap Race

UPDATE - The race is now re-arranged and will be held on Saturday 12th September 2020.

The Club have worked with the new Covid-19 guidance to allow us to organise the Annual 5Km Heathside Handicap for Club Members, with risk mitigation measures.

Met League Cross Country - Cancellations

Sadly the Met League have decided to cancel the first three races of the new season while they consider how to accommodate the new Health and Safety requirements Covid-19 places on the organisation and running of races.

A decision will be taken later this year how to restructure the races.

Our Annual General Meeting is scheduled for September but in view of the Coronavirus crisis we feel the usual format would be impractical. We therefore propose to hold it online on Monday 21st September via Zoom or something similar.

England Athletics - Updated Coronavirus Statement (17th July)

England Athletics have updated their statement regarding the current Coronavirus Emergency.

As a result more training (subject to some conditions) can return with group sizes now increased to 12. However social distancing, continued hygiene measures and a register of attendees to assist any Track and Trace continues to be required.

COVID-19: Heathside running strength session

With Heathside training temporarily suspended, club members have been coming up with creative ways to keep fit and keep in touch with each other. Followers of the Heathside Facebook and Twitter accounts may be aware that club member Joe Mckeown has been running the popular ‘PE with Joe’ strength and conditioning classes.

From Sunday 26 April, we will be running a special strength session with local physio Elinor East from Movement Perfected.

London Heathside - Coronavirus - All Training SUSPENDED

In line with the whole of Athletics London Heathside have suspended all activities and training.

Chairman Jerry Odlin made the following statement on 17th March “We have been checking the action of other clubs and combined with the governments announcements yesterday particularly with the message to Londoners I believe we have no alternative but, with effect from today, to stop all of our group training sessions and to effectively close the club down for a period of time.”
