Heathside’s Spring marathon season kicked off on Sunday with an exceptional performance by our women in Manchester – a brace of PBs from Rebecca Bunting (2:41:47), Josie Hinton (2:50:02) and Catrin Tyler (2:52:10) that might have given us the first women’s team place (watch this space).

Read MoreThere was a good mix of racing at the weekend. We are coming near the end of XC events, but it was good to see 11 Heathsiders running in Loughborough at the BMC xc Challenge final and also Pete flying the flag as the lone Heathsider at the British Masters XC championship in Tonbridge. There was also the Inter area Masters champs at Lee Valley, Half Marathons at Paddock Wood, Milton Keynes and Victoria Park and a 5k at Victoria Park.

Read MoreThe 5th Chingford League on Saturday had a good turnout of Heathsiders and Seyfu won the 5 mile race, and Rory Willis won the U11s 1 mile race. On Sunday, the first of the Rob Jackson Trophy races, the Watford Half, took place with some terrific results, and two podium places for our women – Rebecca Bunting coming first woman overall and Annabel Arnold third woman. Rebecca Marshall decided not to let her marathon training from last year go to waste and took part in a gruelling 30 miler in very grizzly weather.. Cian O’Donnell finished 4th in the 200m final at the southern indoor championships setting a new Senior Men’s Club record.
