Big wins for O'Donnell, Munday, Wallace, Bunting & Kaufmann

Heathside enjoyed a high-achieving weekend on the track, roads, paths, pools and lakes. Our men’s track team won their Southern Athletics League event at Finsbury Park, with Cian O’Donnell and Hattie Munday winning man and women of the match. Cian achieved a PB of 10.6 in the 100m and a PB and club record of 21.47 in the 200. Hattie (U17) won the 800 (2:19), 1500 (4:50), high jump (1.33m) and the 1500 steeplechase in a club record time of 5:37. Meanwhile Brogan Wallace broke the club 1500 m record in a time of 4:28 in Watford, Rebecca Bunting won the Exmoor coastal trail marathon (beating all the men and women) in a female course record time of 3:47 and Karina Kaufmann became the new duathlon Sprint World Champion in the 40-44 age group and also won a bronze in the standard distance.

Records fall to Club's Tartan Army

Lots of action from the track and roads last week including two new senior records with Brogan Wallace setting a new Senior mark of 9:45 in the 3000m in Scotland and Cian O’Donnell establishing a new non wind assisted Men’s 100m club record of 10.65s while running in the Glasgow Jaguar colours in the National League. Mary Kehoe also set a new veteran hammer record with 27.72m in Dublin. Elsewhere Tony Killiea competed in a running decathlon and Matthew Rallison recorded some great performances in Sri Chimnoy races

SAL/MYAL and Road Race Action

There was a vast range of distances and activities this weekend, with the MYAL and SAL taking up the bulk of the weekend for many. In the MYAL, the club hosted the Finsbury Park match and our enthusiastic young athletes rose to the challenge again with victories in all but one age group with 22 event wins. There were also some tremendous performances in the SAL. Rebecca Bunting breezed in first woman at the Hackney Half.

Women 3rd in British 10k Champs plus other road and track action

Road racing took centre stage again with the Vitality 10,000m snaking it’s way through Central London it also acted as a British Road Race Champs with our awesome ladies continuing their exploits from the winter taking 3rd place. There were also Heathsiders competing on the roads at Milton Keynes, Battersea and Hyde Park. On the track great performances and new PBs were set at at Harrow, Dagenham Wormwood Scrubs and Battersea again. In the states Liam Garrett set new PB’s in the 1500m.

New club 10K record at French champs and wins at Battersea Park

This weeks highlight was Evangelista Divetain breaking the club record 10K record by 8 seconds at the French National Championships.There were also other good performances at events over distances from 5K to marathon, including a number of PB’s, plus first place finishes from Harry Klieman and Brogan Wallace at Battersea Park. In addition Sue Eedle set a club 10K record for her age group
