Heathsiders didn’t let the summer holidays get in the way of participating in a good variety of race distances last week –ranging from a 50 mile Ultra in the Lake District, and a half marathon at the Lee Valley Velodrome, to the Last Friday of the month 5k.

Other races include Hackney Half, Maratona Sant’antonio in Padua, Last Friday of the Month, Belfast marathon and a triathlon in Gran Canaria.

Fastest Heathside man over the half marathon distance was Tom Aldred finishing in an impressive 1.08 at Reading in 18th place, and fastest Heathside lady was Kelly Thorneycroft, also at Reading, where she finished in 1.22.

Read MoreDespite being a relatively quiet weekend for racing, Heathsiders managed to produce some excellent performances in various events around the country and beyond. Of special note - Katie Curd came in first woman in her first marathon, and Manuel Yeboa, Sanaa Neunie, Kyerah Scott and Fabien Weston all gained first places in the Middlesex Young Athletes League.

There were many spectacular results in the YDL by the under 13s and under 15s, including Gabriel, Ruairia and Bill coming first in their events. Also causing great excitement was the Highgate Harriers Night of the 10,000 PBs held at Parliament Hill track, with Adam just missing first place in the final lap. There was also impressive times in Brathay Windermere Half, Richmond Park Marathon and Eton Dorney Triathlon.

And this weekend also saw the club championship time for 10 miles spectacularly smashed by Tom Aldred for the 10 mile distance, when he won the Sri Chinmoy 10 in Battersea.
