Young athletes Training

All our sessions for young athletes are based at our track in Finsbury Park, and cater for beginners up to advanced youth competitors. Find what fits in best for you and book for a trial session.

Introduction to athletics sessions (multi events):  Children are introduced to the full range of track, field and running events using a team coaching approach. The emphasis is on the development of skills, fitness and enjoyment. Children will be prepared for and attend competitions, when ready.  Programmes will have seasonal variation. (usually school year 4-7)

Performance athletic sessions: Athletes will be progressed with more focused event training for competition and will have the opportunity to train in event specific groups. e.g. sprints/hurdles/jumps, throws and middle distance/cross country. Programmes will have seasonal variation. (Usually, school years 8+ and year 7 by invite).  

Competitive squad training: There is an opportunity for athletes to progress to competitive squad training. These sessions are by invite only and focused around specific event training for higher level competition. (Usually School Year 9+)

5:00pm – 6:00pm (School year 4 -7) Introduction to athletics sessions.

6:00pm - 7:00pm (School years 8+ year 7 by invite) Performance athletics sessions, (plus Introduction to athletics for older athletes).

5:00pm - 7:00pm Competition squad middle distance and cross-country. By invite Usually School year 9+

5:45pm - 7:15pm Competition squad sprints, hurdles, jumps and conditioning. By invite Usually School year 9+

10:00am – 11.00 - Performance athletics only – to prepare athletes for competition.  Suitable for School Year 4-10

10:00am -12:00pm - Middle distance / cross-country long run. By invite. Suitable for school year 9+

11.00 – 12.45 - Competition squad sprints, hurdles, jumps and strength training. By invite.  Usually School year 9+ 

12.45am - 1:30pm - Hurdles practice session. [pre-booking required].
