Aldred outstanding in Amsterdam

This was a fantastic week for our road runners with over 100 members of the club racing either at the cross country Met League on Saturday or on roads on Sunday, in Holland or closer to home.  The most impressive performance was Tom Aldred's 2hr 25min marathon, which gained him 30th place at the Amsterdam marathon. New member Kevin Gadd came in comfortably under 3 hours, and our most prolific marathoner Ursula Wilson was sixth in her age group with a commendable 3hr15min. Closer to home,  Dominic Jackson and Rick Hewitt achieved PBs at the Abingdon marathon and there were PBs aplenty at the ever popular Cabbage Patch 10.  

The road running section of the club was out in full force at the Cabbage Patch in Twickenham where our men's team was just pipped by the local team, the Stragglers.  Our first man home was Dan Madams, who came in with a 56min 16sec PB, followed by Julian, Leo, Adam, Gavin and Paul who all broke the one hour mark.  Edie was our first lady home, who finished with a PB of 1hr 07mins and Caroline's 1hr 14min gained her second place in her age category.  There were undoubtedly marathon debuts and other PB's so I apologise for any omissions - please email lheathside@gmail.com with any results and race news so we can include everything in our weekly writeups.
