Heathside women haul silver from Wormwood Scrubs

Cross-country action continues this week, with the main highlight this week being an impressive performance at the Southern Cross Country Relays, with the women winning silver.  We also have action at the Chingford League and a 10K and half marathon, and of course, parkrun.

Southern Cross Country Relays, Wormwood Scrubs, 23.10.21

Simon sent in the following report from Wormwood Scrubs:

“A fantastic performance from our Senior Women saw them take silver in the Southern XC Relays at an overcast Wormwood Scrubs on Saturday.  Beth on the first leg took the race out fast producing the 2nd fastest time of the day only one second behind the fastest Pippa Woolvern of Wycombe who was just able to catch Brogan on the last leg to see us finish 2nd just 12 seconds off a win.  A great performance from Beth, Alex and Brogan.

In the Men's race James and Andy consolidated the team in 15th place before slipping back to 16th over the last two legs by Fillipo and Jake.  The time of 52:56 was still good enough to finish ahead of our neighbours Highgate Harriers who finished 20s behind. Jamie Morris and Patrick Curry also took part as a B team and after two legs were in 27th place. “

Chingford League 5km Velopark Weds 20th October

Pete Crockford sent in the following report from the Velopark last Wednesday:

“Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves on a sticky night, on an up and down twisty course. Some slight delays as organisers and marshals struggled manfully with a much bigger turnout than expected – volunteers always needed! A fine win by Rory in the U11s and great to see Jacob – who fared better than he’d feared – competing again after so long. And a 250th road race for me.”
