Pride 10k, Victoria Park 16.9.23

Gavin Evans reports: Three Heathsiders took part in the Pride 10k on a hot Saturday morning in Victoria Park on Saturday 16th.

Conditions for the 635 finishers in this Frontrunners-organised event were not ideal for fast times (only three managed to break 36 minutes) with the thermometer passing the 25c mark by the end – which meant that most of the runners slowed appreciably by their third and final lap. But the friendly atmosphere and strong sense of camaraderie among the runners and spectators made up for it.

The first Heathsider home was Joel Northcott in 40:08 followed by Gavin Evans in 40:25 and Claire Thornhill in 48:29, all of us cheered around with commendable enthusiasm by Liam Hazelton.

Results (635 finishers)

37th Joel Northcott – 40:08

41st Gavin Evans – 40:25 (2nd V60)

199th Claire Thornhill – 48:29
