The Club’s Young Athletes kicked their season off with hosting the MYAL at an overcast Finsbury Park. In a day dominated by Shaftesbury the Club secured 2nd place comfortably wining the U15 Girls and U17 Women age groups and 2nd in the others apart form U13 Boys. The key to succeess was covering as many events as possible. Highlights included event wins for Sam Peppler Astruic (U13B Javelin), Gabriel Edwards (U15B 80mH), Asia Emanuel (U17W Long Jump), Elkie Baker (U17W Discus) Nicole Stewart and Sam Brown (U17M 400m). 3 new club records were set with Christopher Bage in the U15B Javelin and in the pole Vault Tilly Lachmann (U15G) and Nicole Stewart (U17W).

UYDL - UPPER SOUTH Division 2B ASHTON PLAYING FIELDS Woodford Green IG8 8AA, 28.4.24
The first of this years UYDL matches was held on Sunday in initially cold wet conditions at Woodford. This is the third year we have competed in this league (as a combined team with Highgate). This league which follows the SAL format with all events provided is an ideal bridge for U17 and U20 athletes from the MYAL to senior athletics as well as giving athletes an opportunity to try a wider range of events than the MYAL. Some great performances from young Heathsiders saw event wins for Thomas Wassermann (U20M Shot and Hammer), David Baah-Ojyere (U20M 800m), Montana Dennis (U17M 100mH), Suraya Frost (U17W 80mH) and Elkie Baker (U17W Discus). Sam Turner set a new 1500mSC record in his firsat steeplechase race. Other great contributions from Kyra Smith, Tristian Willhoft-King (who was injured in the High Jump), Ben Ryan and making his Heathside debut Emilio Giraldo who in his first ever meet ran 100m, 200m and Long Jump.
The team finished 4th behind hosts Woodford, Dartford, and Basildon but ahead of Newham and VP&TH a great start to build on. Many thanks to Israel for his team. The next match is in Basildon on 26th May.
