UYDL 3 Division 2B - Finsbury Park - 6 July
The highlight of the week was undoubtedly the performances in the Youth Development League fixture held on home ground, as Simon Baker reports on the transformation in the team’s fortunues ;
“ A fantastic team performance on Sunday saw the Club's U17 and U20 athletes (combined with Highgate Harriers) host the 3rd and final UYDL match of the season. Going into the last match in 2nd place in the league the team knew only a win would secure promotion for the first time to Division One. They all rose to the occasion and secured the victory by a margin of over 100 pts. With the previous league leaders Epsom & Ewell finishing 4th it also mean't the team secured 1st place in the League. An amazing journey over the last 3 years when we re-joined the league as part of a composite team which then also included VPH&TH. The team generally finished last.
Sunday saw a host of great performances with wins for:-
U20M - Trey Corlis (100m, 200m, 110mH), Sam Brown (400m), Marcel Baczek (JT) and 4x100m relay.
U20W - Asia Emanuel (100m), Elkie Baker (U17) (DT) and 4x100m
U17M - Malakai David McKenzie Callum (100m, 100mH), Mikel Alexander (200m), Dylan Mills (800m), 4x100m and 4x400m.
Elkie Baker, Trey Corlis and Malakai all has top 10 performances for the meeting.
Well done to all the athletes for their dedication and efforts this season and also to team manager Israel whose dedication and encouragement has been the driving force behind the team's success. “ Results below :
