Rose of the Shires Ultra 54, Northampton 7 Apr
Aaron Smith ( pictured ) completed the 54 mile Rose of the Shires Ultra around Northampton - his first ultra – in a race the website states to be “ the ultimate test of endurance and will require extensive training “ and to have a “ epic, picturesque route”
The winning times out of the 52 finishers were 8hr 35m for the men, and 9hr 7m for women
Aaron says he had a great experience, as he writes :
“ Found some nice people to chat with, ran too fast chatting with them through mud & wind, and ate loads of cake. Then spent much of the rest of the day stumbling back through more mud and rolling hills, occasionally lost, whilst what felt like half the race cheerily overtook me until it got dark, and I finished ! “
