Charlie Nicolson excels in English Schools Cross-Country champs
Heathside athletes took part in two big events last weekend: the English Schools Cross-Country championships and the Middlesex Indoor championships, and excelled in both. In the cross-country the performance of the day went to Charlie Nicolson who came eight of the 324 finishers, just 19 seconds behind the winner. In the indoor championships two of the best were Carlos Mingoes who ran a PB of 6.98 to win the 60m and U15 Leonard Hewings who broke the club record and his own PB with a throw of 10.57 in the shot-put. Mikel Alexander (U17M 200m) and Gabriel Edwards (U15B LJ) also set new club records.

ESAA Cross Country Championships, Ardingly Showroom, Saturday March 15
Eight of our junior athletes took part in the English Schools Cross-Country championships on Saturday. The outstanding Heathside performance of the day belonged to Charlie Nicolson, who came eighth out of 324 finishers among the junior boys, completing the 1.8-mile course in a nifty 8:41, just 19 seconds behind the winner.

Indoor Track and Field
Middlesex Indoor Championships, Lee Valley, March 15-16
Thirty-nine of our athletes took part in the Middlesex Indoor Championships at Lee Valley last Saturday and Sunday and they came away with 7 gold medals, 7 Silver and 6 Bronze medals with 32 PBs and one club record.
There were several exceptional performances including Charley Mingoes running a PB of 6.98 to win the senior men’s 60m sprint, William de Cothi running a PB of 4:23.41 to win the men’s 1500, Montana Dennis running a PB of 8.38 to win the men’s the 60m hurdles, Prithvi Rajsharma jumping 1.80m to win the high jump, Thomas Wasserman throwing 10.57 to win the men’s shotput, Leonard Hewings getting a new PB and club record with his throw of 10.57 to come second in the U15 shot-put and Jeane Vellard running a PB of 2:29.51 to come second in the women’s 800m.
