UYDL Division 2B, Match 4, Walton 30.7.23
The last Club youth fixture took place on Sunday with 3 Heathsiders trekking to Walton on the SW fringe of London to compete. Bizarrely even with 4 athletes until the afternoon the team were not last with low numbers from other clubs especially odd as Kingston and Guildford are only 30 minutes from the track.
Trey one both 100m and 200m with Marcel winning the U20M Javelin in windy conditions. Ella Burridge returned from injury to finish 2nd in both 100m and long jump.
So ends our 2nd season back in the UYDL. However if we are to continue participating we really need more U17s to give this league a try with a full range of events this should be a step up from the MYAL especially for endurance runners.

Derek Crookes U13 Inter-Counties, Walton, 29.7.23
Rory Willis and Gabriel Edwards doned the red and gold of Middlesex to take part in this annual Inter-counties match hosted by Surrey. This is a very high standard meeting and a good indicator ahead of the SEAA U13 Championships at Lee Valley on 12-13th August.
Gabriel had a busy afternoon competing in the 200m, 75mH, Long Jump and Relay while Rory took part in the 1500m. Gabriel set a wind assisted PB in the 200m and a new 75mH record.

Triathalon
Middlesex Triathlon, Merchant Taylors School,
This week it was the battle of the sexes at the Herts and Middlesex Triathlon at Merchant Taylors School. And it would be fair to say that the women came off better.
First off was the sprint distance. The 750m swim in the lake went to form with Martin exiting first. However the first upset of the day was Jackie storming round the 25km cycle route to complete the bike leg over a minute ahead of the Martin, who was the next Heathside home. The next big shock was Ruth comprehensively beating Dave by almost 3 minutes in the 5km off-road run. To rub salt in the wounds Jackie and Ruth were both first in their age categories and Dave and Martin coming in a "lowly" second in their respective age groups.
Next off was the Standard Triathlon swimmers who slipped into the water to undertake the 1500m loop. Seasoned semi-pro Sandra lead the Heathside charge from the start to storm round in just over 3 hours to also win her age category. Hongbin Gu didn't really have a chance against that sort of quality but persevered on to complete the race in 3 hours and 30 minutes to finish 75th overall.
